Get Control Of Your Ant Problem: 3 Tips

by Norah Slieker

Ants are a pest that, just when you think you got rid of them, they pop back up into another part of your home. These pests are tricky and can change paths when needed and find another route to food in your home. They can be behind walls, baseboards, beneath wood floors, and in the ductwork of your home as well. If you have ants in your home, you need to get rid of them before your home is crawling with these pests everywhere. Read on for tips to help clear your home of these pests.

1. Sprinkle Diatomaceous Earth

Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around your home where you have seen these pests. Sprinkle it around the edges of the room, as this is usually where the ants will be. The pesticide will dehydrate the ants and kill them shortly after they crawl through it. You can vacuum up the deceased ants and then sprinkle more diatomaceous earth around the room, or in other rooms of your home and keep an eye out for any more signs of them.

2. Use Ant Traps And Baits

Poisonous ant traps or baits can be used to kill these pests as well. You can place the traps or baits where you have seen ant activity, but keep it out of reach of small children and pets, and away from food. There are a number of different types of traps or baits that can be used. Read the manufacturer's instructions on how to use the traps or bait and set out new ones every couple of days. You can find these types of pesticide traps and bait at any local hardware store, or at a big box store.

3. Remove Food Sources

You want the ants to be attracted to the poisonous bait, not to the food you are eating in your home. You need to be sure the ants are being enticed by the poison, which means you need to remove other food sources. Put all food in your pantry away into airtight containers and wipe up all food prep and cooking areas, including your stove, microwave, and your sink.

If you have ants in your home, and every time you think you are rid of them, they pop up in another part of your home, you may have an infestation. Hire a pest control expert to help get rid of these pests once and for all.

Learning About Natural Pest Control

Hey everyone, my name is Silas. With two allergy prone children, I had to find natural ways to keep bugs from infiltrating our home. In this area, bugs tend to come into the house in droves as soon as the outdoor temperatures drop. When that happens, I'm forced to treat common areas to kill the bugs and keep them from growing in number. I want to share all of the natural pest control techniques I used to keep bugs out of our house. I will also talk about gentle commercial options available for heavy infestations. I hope you will visit my site on a regular basis to learn more.
