3 Pests That Move Inside In The Winter

by Norah Slieker

When it gets cold outside, many pests move inside to avoid the cold weather. They want to be in a warm environment, just like you do. As the weather shifts to winter, knowing what type of pests you need to be aware of is essential.

Rats

One of the pests that like to move indoors is rats and mice. They don't like to be out in the cold. They like to have a nice warm place to hang out. They will move into your home and create a nest that allows them to chill out.

The trouble with rats and mice is that they don't just chill; they eat up your insulation, eat your wiring, and damage the construction of your home. They can get into your food and contaminate it. In addition, they will carry diseases into your home and leave dirt and droppings behind them. They are some of the worst and most destructive pests to get in your home. This is something that you are going to want to get professional assistance with right away.

Spiders

Another pest that likes to move inside during the winter months, where things are warmer and can set up webs that are not going to get ruined by the rain. They are not likely to harm you, but if you don't like having these creepy little crawlers around your home, you are going to want to bring in an exterminator to get rid of them. Spiders also tend to have babies in the winter, so you will want to get rid of them before they spread out and really take over your home with hundreds of babies.

Crickets

Crickets tend to try and move indoors to extend their life. They will try to make their way inward from your yard to your family room. The most annoying thing with crickets is that when they are inside your home, that pleasant sound they make outside can be really loud when they are inside your home.  Especially when you are trying to sleep. For your peace of mind, you are going to want to work with an exterminator to get rid of any crickets that try to turn your home into their winter sanctuary.

If any of the above pests are invading your home, you will want to contact an exterminator. An exterminator will help to get rid of whatever is plaguing your home and ensure that the pests stay away and don't bug you all winter long.

About Me

Learning About Natural Pest Control

Hey everyone, my name is Silas. With two allergy prone children, I had to find natural ways to keep bugs from infiltrating our home. In this area, bugs tend to come into the house in droves as soon as the outdoor temperatures drop. When that happens, I'm forced to treat common areas to kill the bugs and keep them from growing in number. I want to share all of the natural pest control techniques I used to keep bugs out of our house. I will also talk about gentle commercial options available for heavy infestations. I hope you will visit my site on a regular basis to learn more.
